This was a deeply nerdy energy research project. Callista Carroccio helped me with this. We created 28 detailed slides to explain the research process and findings. But this is the money slide. Or lack-of-money slide as it turned out...
We needed to understand if new policies on solar plus storage (California Title 24) would grow the addressable market for our storage solutions. That meant checking potential battery sizes for typical projects against our minimum possible battery size shown in kW and kWh. In this chart I've altered the battery sizing parameters to protect confidentiality.
Potential storage projects have to be large enough to get into the red area high on the right of the chart. Any smaller, and they would be too small for our solution. Over towards the bottom left corner, you can see data points for six potential projects, sized according to the CA Title 24 regulations.
The chart clearly shows that the biggest project - the school in Brawley - is still only about half the size needed to be a fit for our solution on. The other five projects...not even close to being in the ballpark.
Decision made in a couple of minutes because we condensed hours of research into a single concise chart.
